An Insight to Digital and Analog Televisions

Television has a great impact on Americans. Most of us resort to television for meeting our entertainment needs. Initially there were analog televisions all over the United States. However now with advancements in technology, there are various other types of TVs such as Digital TV and HDTV. Let's focus on understanding how a digital TV works. Before that it is very essential that we know how the analog TV functions. Initially a picture is captured on a video camera at the rate of 30 frames per second. The pictures are subdivided into small squares called pixels. These pixels all have different colors and intensities and later on they are arranged and synchronized to form a complete picture.

So to sum it up, a single picture is broken down into smaller bits called pixels. These pixels are coordinated in such a way that they form a complete picture. Sound is altogether a different track in itself. It is never mixed with the video signal. It comes as a separate track which is then coordinated to be in sync with the video. These two tracks can be combined and sent to be broadcasted. They can also be recorded using a VCR. They can also be transmitted through cable systems along with other composite signals.

Usually a particular frequency is used to send these composite video signals. The frequency is referred to as VHF and UHF channels. If a VCR wants to send the signal to an analog TV, it takes both the signals and modulates the signals with the help of a carrier which has 60 MHz and it sends it to the TV directly. The job of a set top box is to convert the incoming digital signal into an analog signal and then send it to your analog TV. True digital TVs make use of digital cameras, and use digital transmission and have digital displays to give you the quality of picture that you dreamed of.

There is one disadvantage when users opt for analog TV. It is the resolution that is the main problem. Resolution is the key factor that affects the picture quality and the clarity with which the picture is displayed. So then how can we change the resolution or rather what are the factors which affect the resolution of a picture? Pixels are the answer to this question. Analog televisions have a very low resolution when compared to the computer screens. Even the most outdated computers have a good resolution that the best analog television sets.

It's tough to explain how you feel when you haven't watched programs on a digital television. Only people who have watched a program will be clearly able to explain about the amazing picture quality. HDTV is considered the most advanced of the digital TV. It is very easy to compare the signals of an analog TV and digital TV. It is to be noted that even the sound quality on the digital TV is much better when compared to analog TV.

Are you curious to know how analog TV worked in the past? It happened when the TV stations broadcasted the signals through their antennas to the receivers. The people at the receiving ends in turn used antennas to receive the signals and the video signal and the sound signals were entirely separate and not combined. An important point to be considered is that not all digital TVs are HDTVs but all HDTVs are actually Digital TVs. The level of picture quality provided by them is simply mind-blowing. You can catch the excitement of watching programs on Digital TV from various service providers along with packages such as Dish TV packages.
